(Past) At a young age he was a vivid dreamer with a clear, photographic memory.He would draw in the sand of the ocean floor with sticks, or with his tail fin and he could describe and remember any image he saw perfectly. Yet he wished there was a way that he could use his artistic mindset for something that everyone else could see, not just himself; Something that didn't wash away, something that lasted...
So he decided to try drawing something above the water. He took a squid's ink and a pointy shell and began drawing against a flat rock near the shore. It wasn't as easy as he had thought it would be, but it gave him a great idea... He had always wondered what Terra looked like, above the ocean. Now that he could nearly see, he wanted to show the people of Terra what they were missing under the ocean. By the time he was done a young ??? came to see. The boy was enthusiastic and told him that he could be an artist. This interested the young merman, who knew little of what the job of an artist was.
He spent further days practicing his Terran artistry, while conversing with the boy who had been the first human to see his art. Eventually the boy told him about his life in the Terran city of Remoriah; They ended up with an agreement that helped them both (U/C)

Personality: Clain is very energetic and always moving around, even when standing still. His body language borders on the unpredictable, as does the random things he does when curious of his surroundings or an unknown object; Though this fact has caused him trouble and even dangerous situations before. He also talks quickly when he gets excited, but he becomes restless when he gets bored. When he's feeling restless he tends to find a place to practice his music or sing. He uses this hobby as somewhat of an outlet for his energy. Thanks to this, his parents value him highly, unlike his brother Cecil; As his brother is more of a black sheep in their traditional family of bards. Clain doesn't realize this and isn't really trying to impress anyone. Though he can come off as a bit clueless or oblivious because of that.
He's also assumed to be quite childish and immature by those who don't know him well; However, this is a misconception due to his outward nature, mannerisms and the fact that he is still young. He has somewhat of a deeper understanding when it comes to plants and animals, sometimes he'll even surprise people with what he knows about them when they haven't even told him. This habit of "knowing" is also a trait his parents are proud of, rumoring he may even be gifted. In fact, he just has very good intuition and luck.
He's normally very friendly and calm around those he trusts, but to strangers he is very shy and distrusting. Though not offensively nor defensively, just uncertain; But his relationships are all based on trust through action, so he could be easily mislead by someone who is acting; What he really enjoys though, is the company of animals and would cuddle up to one and even sleep, if he trusts it enough. Though, the same goes for people. He's not shy, even with the opposite sex or same sex, he'll show his affections openly. He also has a soft voice and gentle nature that makes him good at gardening, though he prefers only to grow plants and wildflowers in natural gardens; (Forests, ect.)
He doesn't think it's fair to pick wild plants when they're not fully grown, or to not put them to a good use. He also hates cruelty towards animals and harming anything in general. Though he's mature enough to be stable and is typically not a crybaby, he's so used to his peaceful family life that seeing an extremely destructive situation such as a war, would likely bring him to tears in fear. His worst flaw, most likely in relation to his species, is the fact he is easily overwhelmed by danger and frightening or loud things.
